The Economy is doing well? How’s your “economy”?

In this day and age of two and sometimes three income earners needed to have a financially solvent household (soon to be three and sometimes four income earners per household if we don’t hold our elected officials accountable for their spending ways and kick them out of office if there is even the appearance of profligate spending), I can understand why the Authorities will say that the “Economy” is doing well.

Add that many income earners to the statistics and, yeah, the numbers will look real good!

In the last century, the 20th century, from the early fifties up until the late seventies, it seems that one income earner per household was sufficient for a financially solvent household. There were exceptions but for the most part that seemed to be the case.

As the 20th century waned, it appeared as if (at least to me) the number of income earners per houshold needed to have a solvent household increased.

I get the feeling that many women entered the workforce not out of any unfullfilled desire for a career of their own but out of financial necessity to help pay for the needs of the family – the household. Extra income – enough money.

The truth of the matter is this – money may not be the most important thing in the world but it sure seems to affect just about everything that is dear to us. Therefore, to have enough money for our physical, mental and spiritual well-being is an absolute necessity!

Because of this need for additional income earners per household, I feel that the quality of life isn’t what it once was.

Many people share the same sentiment and are constantly looking for a way to supplement their income and even to replace it if possible.

Thus, they look for income producing opportunities. Usually, a home-based business.

And, fortunately, because of the creation of the Internet and the advent of the personal computer, never before in the history of our planet has there been an opportunity of such magnitude for the average person to create a sufficient income in the comfort, safety and security of their own home in order to achieve their dreams, wants and desires! Exit the Rat Race!

Unfortunately, many of those entering this endeavor (a home-based business) for the first time are neither business savvy nor are they marketing savvy. Two essential disciplines that need to be mastered before any degree of success can be achieved.

Consequently, not knowing this and being mesmerized by the increasingly slick and manipulative business opportunity sales pages that permeate the Internet, they fail and, unfortunately, never try again.

The frustration of not knowing what it takes to be successful and quiting after one shot is what, at least in my humble opinion, creates the so-called 97% failure rate.

Truth be known those that persist and come to the realization that failure at one step of the process is not total failure seem to succeed 100% of the time. Yes, they seem to have the attitude that “I’m going to succeed at this or die trying.” Yes, if you are familiar with those that sell systems for make money at home products and services and the stories that they tell of their own personal journey, the common thread is that they never quit.

Few people want to “die trying” nor do they have the time, energy or money to invest in themselves to the point that they’ve mastered the aforementioned disciplines so they look for what I call a business in a box. Something that requires minimal effort, once going runs on near autopilot and pays a steady and predictable income.

These “businesses in a box” can become a means to an end (rat race exit) or to those that don’t really expect much … a stepping stone to greater heights for their learning process.

Personally, I have had some good success promoting other people’s products and services. What is usually called affiliate marketing. Something to look into if one is adament about exiting the rat race and yet doesn’t have the requisite skills to succeed on their own.
